Food Safety On The Farm"Field to fork" food safety begins right here in our fields. Sandyland Farms takes the threat of food contamination—and our role in preventing it—very seriously. Proper sanitation and cleanliness on the farm are crucial to keeping our food supply safe. Employees of Sandyland Farms are thoroughly trained on how to prevent produce contamination. "Traceability" is another key component of food safety. Sandyland Farms keeps meticulous records—from planted seed to shipped product—that allow us to trace all produce back to the field of production. GAP/GHP CertifiedSandyland Farms is certified by the USDA's program for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GHP). As part of this voluntary certification, our farm is annually audited for adherence to the Food & Drug Administration's Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. |
